Munich, 29 September 2010 – With its NEC Tuner, NEC Display Solutions now provides three solutions in one single module: users can receive DVB-T, IPTV and analogue signals via the option slot on their display and thus reap greater benefit from an even wider range of content feed methods.

This user-friendly solution represents a major advantage in particular for the areas of digital signage, education and corporate in-house information and entertainment. The NEC Tuner is a simple and cost-effective way of receiving TV signals on a public display. Thanks to the option slot integrated within the display the user does not need any additional cables or external devices and can operate the tuner conveniently using the display's remote control.

Channels can also be changed via LAN through the builtin HTTP server which is very convenient for central control of multiple screens. IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) is particularly ideal when starting out in the world of digital signage. Commercials or selected information can be transmitted quite easily via the network, for example as video, to broadcast on public displays as a uni or multicast system.

In the educational field certain programmes can be shown in classrooms and at key information spots on campus. In addition large companies can transmit important corporate news to all public displays on the premises. The signals are managed throughout the network from a single device, meaning that it is easier for the user to handle and it saves money, too. “With our new NEC Tuner we enhance our successful option slot concept which guarantees our customers great flexibility and ensures a future-proof investment regarding technical changes,” says Thorsten Prsybyl, Product Line Manager Public Displays Europe at NEC Display Solutions Europe.
