
Mustek, a PC, notebook and related products assembler and distributor, has appointed Kobus van Wyk to head its newly established eLearning division. Van Wyk is the former head of the Khanya Project, a Western Cape-based eLearning initiative.
Van Wyk spent decades working in IT and software Development as a senior lecturer at the Cape Town University of Technology and CEO of Computer System Builders. HE applied his skills to the education sector in 2001, when Helen Zille, then the Western Cape’s education MEC, gave him the opportunity to manage and facilitate an outreach project through which technology would be applied to schools.
The Khanya Project focused on using technology such as desktops and laptops to solve problems in the education sector.
